Elizabeth Milos, active union member in UPTE-CWA 9119 Local 7, Spanish/English healthcare interpreter at UCSF, and a Chilean-American human rights activist who actively fights against neoliberalism, privatization and militarism

Candidate Statement: I am running for LSB rep to help make KPFA more democratic, transparent and accountable to the listeners. KPFA needs more voices from working people, rank and file union members and a radio presence in the community and the world worthy of the founding principles of KPFA as an anti-imperialist and anti-war station.

I am an active union member in UPTE-CWA 9119 Local 7 , a Spanish/English healthcare interpreter at UCSF, and a Chilean-American human rights activist who actively fights against neoliberalism, privatization and militarism. I have actively supported and continue to support many different struggles, throughout my life: anti-dictatorial struggle in Chile, support for the Mapuche movement against corporations, support for grassroots organizations in New Orleans after Katrina, support for Standing Rock and the movement for Divestment from fossil fuels as well as support for BDS.

As a LSB rep I will help organize to keep our network whole, and look at more on-the-ground models of community engagement to help our stations thrive. I tend to face problems head on, and will try to ask questions that will help us find solutions and will seek a community engagement model to solve them. I believe that these meetings should be recorded and even streamed so that our listener members can see what is being discussed and can contribute with their thoughts and concerns.

A radio station such as KPFA is a community resource which needs to be treasured as part of the overall network of affiliate stations. Only by sticking together can we be strong enough to thrive. Please vote for me and all other candidates from the Rescue Pacifica slate.
